Golden Turmeric Latte

Turmeric is going mainstream. Enough so that Starbucks recently introduced a Turmeric Latte.  Sadly it’s only currently available in the U.K. So we whipped up this oh-so-sumptuous homemade version to tied us over until the Seattle coffee roaster brings it stateside.

  

Ingredients:

 

1 1/2 cups unsweetened coconut milk

¾ teaspoon turmeric powder or 1 inch piece fresh turmeric, peeled

¼ teaspoon ground ginger or 3/4 inch piece of fresh ginger, peeled

¾ teaspoon cinnamon

Honey to taste (about 1 large teaspoon)

Pinch of black pepper (to ensure proper absorption of turmeric)

 

For extra creaminess and frothiness, add 1 tablespoon almond or cashew butter.

 

Directions:

Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.  Heat in a mug in the microwave or in a small pot on the stove.  Makes 2 servings. Mmmmm.
