Turmeric is everywhere these days and there are plenty of studies that support the various implications and uses of this miracle spice ranging from anti-inflammatory powers to improved brain function. The easiest way to add turmeric, and it’s active ingredient curcumin, to your daily routine is to take a supplement. However, sometimes it’s nice to (literally) spice things up so we’ve created this oh-so-zesty Healing Turmeric Tea recipe for you to enjoy on those cozy hygge evenings.
Turmeric is a seriously intense spice and the flavor can be a bit off-putting for first timers, so this tea has a perfect blend of more “familiar” spices and flavors such as cinnamon, honey, and ginger to satisfy any palate and allow everyone to enjoy curcumin’s magical healing properties.
1-2 cups of water
1 tsp turmeric powder, or more if you can handle it! ;-)
1 tsp fresh ginger (optional – but highly recommended)
pinch of nutmeg
pinch of clove
pinch of black pepper*
raw honey to sweeten
*Studies show the active ingredient in black pepper aids in the absorption of curcumin.
In a small pot on the stove set to low heat, simmer (seriously, take it SLOW....maybe even squeeze in a meditation) herbs and water for 10 mines. Then strain and honey to your taste. Enjoy!!
